Doctor and patient collaboration in the spotlight during World PI Week 2022

The World PI Week campaign 2022 was an impressive demonstration of projects putting the needs of patients with primary immunodeficiency on the global stage! This year we saw patients, health care professionals and other stakeholders from over 40 countries join forces to drive change for patients in innovative ways under the slogan “Lives can be saved”. Moreover, for the first time, the global community got an exciting opportunity to meet in person during the IPIC congress that coincided with the campaign week.

IPOPI was proud to be able to support campaigns from 28 different National Member Organisations (NMOs) through IPOPI’s World PI Week grant programme. Thanks to this programme, several NMOs were able to organise their very first in-person meetings since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, while others launched social media campaigns, produced videos, organised solidarity runs, and much more. Supporting the activities of our NMOs is key for IPOPI and this campaign, and we were pleased to contribute to making this a success.

Through the social media campaign #MyPhysicianAndI, IPOPI also chose to spotlight the important relationship between physicians and patients for rare chronic diseases like PIDs. Throughout World PI Week, IPOPI published selfies from the members to showcase this relationship and the equally important relationship between patient organisations and their medical advisors. IPOPI was very pleased with this campaign and wants to thank all NMOs who contributed to it.
