IPOPI at the IDF conference

IPOPI was delighted to be invited to participate in the Immune Deficiency Foundation’s (IDF) National Conference, organised in the National Harbor in Washington DC in June 20-22, 2019. The conference is one of the largest gatherings of the primary immunodeficiencies’ (PIDs) community in the world, bringing together patients, family members, healthcare professionals, industry representatives and stakeholders, such as IPOPI, and many more. This year the conference welcomed over 1300 visitors, creating a unique opportunity for PID patients and their relatives to meet, learn and exchange experiences.

IPOPI was greeted with a warm welcome by IDF President and CEO John Boyle as well as by IDF Chair and IPOPI Board Member John Seymour, during the opening meet and greet reception, which was a great way to kickstart the conference.

Johan Prevot (IPOPI Executive Director) presenting at the IDF meeting

The three-day conference featured a very comprehensive programme with multiple parallel sessions, one in which IPOPI’s Executive Director Johan Prevot was invited to present on the topic of The Global Perspective of Primary Immunodeficiencies. This presentation discussed global data of patient’s priorities derived from IPOPI’s Principles of Care survey, and presented an international overview of key policy developments & challenges, on a global, regional and a national level. Beyond this each conference day also provided disease specific sessions, offering the attendees a chance to deepen their knowledge on CVID, SCID, CGD, Hyper IgM Syndrome and many others. The conference included a varied medical programme suitable for the broad attending audience as well as fun activities for the young visitors.

IPOPI would like to extend a warm thank you to IDF for inviting us and looks forward to participating in many future conferences.
