World PI Week 2026: We Can’t Wait for Change
This year, the global Primary Immunodeficiency community united under the theme “We Can’t Wait: Calling for early diagnosis and timely treatment and support”, sending a clear message: people living with Primary Immunodeficiencies cannot afford delays in diagnosis, treatment, or access to care.
Through IPOPI’s NMO Support Programme, 39 National Member Organisations (NMOs) transformed this message into action. Around the world, they organised educational webinars and scientific meetings for healthcare professionals, launched awareness campaigns through social media and animated videos, developed mental health resources for patients and clinicians, promoted the implementation of SCID newborn screening, and delivered patient support and orientation programmes calling for access to treatment today.
To further amplify the campaign, IPOPI launched a global video initiative featuring NMO leaders sharing what the PID community “can’t wait” for. Their messages highlighted key priorities, including universal newborn screening, faster diagnosis, equitable access to treatment, access to gene therapies, improved mental health support, and a better quality of life for all people living with PIDs.
World PI Week 2026 demonstrated the power of a united global community working towards the same goal: ensuring that no person with a PID is left waiting for the care and support they need. Let’s keep the momentum going!
