World PI Week in 3 new themes

IPOPI is looking forward to this year’s edition of the global awareness campaign World PI Week (WPIW), taking place 22-29 April 2021! This campaign provides a global arena for stakeholders to share information about primary immunodeficiencies (PID), ultimately stimulating early diagnosis and working to ensure timely and appropriate care is available for PID patients worldwide.

Considering the circumstances associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s World PI Week will highlight three themes:

  • Plasma availability: Ensuring the availability of plasma is essential to produce life-saving therapies for many patients
  • Patient safety and protection – focus on vaccination: By protecting each other with vaccination, we protect people with primary immunodeficiency
  • Quality of life & health outcomes: Research, early diagnosis and better access to treatment help improve patients’ quality of life

Through events and activities promoting World PI Week and its three themes, the global PID community can work together to improve healthcare systems and practices for people with primary immunodeficiencies. IPOPI is looking forward to taking part and supporting our national member organisations in their participation.
