PIPO, IPOPI’s National Member Organisation (NMO) in Uganda, had a meeting in November 5, 2018, to review the progress of the primary immunodeficiencies (PIDs) diagnosis laboratory support towards screening of PID patients and the steps forward for the patient organisation. PIPO agreed that a PIDs clinic should be launched immediately, with the support of the doctors involved in PIPO. This is the first clinic of the kind in the country and should help diagnose many patients in the years to come.
The clinic will be at the Mulago hospital, in Kampala, the National referral hospital, and medical school. PIPO hopes to inspire other Regional Referral Hospitals to open similar clinics in the near future.
