Two Successful Programmes of IPOPI PIDetect in 2024

The IPOPI PIDetect Programme, aimed at improving low PID diagnostic rates in developing countries by training healthcare professionals at PID centres under expert supervision, completed two new programmes in 2024!

The first programme took Dr Kalirou Traoré and Dr Karamoko Tangara from Mali to a 7-week training in Morocco under the guidance of Prof Aziz Bousfiha and his expert team at the Children’s Hospital, Ibn Rochd University Hospital in Casablanca, Morocco. This training provided visits to paediatric departments and immunology laboratories with a focus on clinical training for the diagnosis of PIDs and appropriate disease management in daily practice.

The second programme strengthened the cooperation between Malaysia and Cambodia by supporting a 4-week training for Dr Chin Seuy and Ms Chanden Chhorn under the guidance of Dr Adli Ali and his expert team at Hospital Pakar Kanak-Kanak UKM (UKM Specialist Children’s Hospital) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. In this effort, multiple hospitals and specialists hosted the Cambodian trainees and displayed their multidisciplinary approach to diagnosing, treating, monitoring and supporting PID patients in Malaysia.

These trainings provided valuable tools and knowledge to four healthcare professionals in these African and Asian countries. IPOPI is enthusiastic about continuing the work to promote PID awareness and diagnosis in Mali, together with Prof Abdoul Aziz Diakite’s team, and in Cambodia with Prof Chean Sophal’s,  and further foment the collaboration within the African and Asian regions.

These programmes were made possible thanks to the support of Grifols and Takeda.
