Upcoming Mini-documentary: Pulmonary Alveolar Proteinosis in PIDs – A Hidden Challenge

IPOPI is pleased to share the teaser for our upcoming mini-documentary, “Pulmonary Alveolar Proteinosis in PIDs: A Hidden Challenge.” This new production sheds much-needed light on Pulmonary Alveolar Proteinosis (PAP), an ultra-rare lung condition that can occur as a complication in patients with Primary Immunodeficiencies (PIDs), and on autoimmune PAP (aPAP), the most common form of this syndrome.

Through a blend of patient testimonies and expert insights, the film explores the physical and emotional toll of living with a disease that is often misdiagnosed. The mini-doc also provides essential medical context, explaining how PAP develops, why it is so rare, and how it uniquely affects both PID and aPAP patients. With clinicians highlighting the challenges of timely diagnosis, the documentary walks viewers through the key tests involved, the risks of misdiagnosis, the hope for future treatments, and the need for awareness to provide the best care to patients as quickly as possible.

With this project, IPOPI aims to share readily available knowledge on PAP, raise awareness of this ultra-rare syndrome, amplify the experiences of those affected, and support earlier recognition of this life-threatening condition among patients, families, and healthcare professionals.

Stay tuned for the full release until the end of the year — in the meantime, you can get a sneak peek of the mini-documentary by watching the teaser here.
