Blood donation and MSM (Men having sex with men) has been getting a lot of attention internationally.
IPOPI, similarly to the haemophilia community platforms and other organisations of patients receiving blood and plasma derived medicinal products has prepared a statement on the issue. IPOPI is supporting the view that blood safety should be driven by science rather than socio-political considerations and that any change to donor deferral measures should come as the outcome of a thorough evidence based risk assessment process.
