It is with great sadness that IPOPI learnt about the recent passing of Dr Beatriz Carvalho, one of the leading primary immunodeficiencies’ physicians from Brazil.

Dr Carvalho will be remembered by the patient community and her peers not only as a respected expert in her country (where she played a pivotal role in creating the Brazilian Group for Immunodeficiencies – BRAGID), a force in the Latin American region but also as a truly kind and caring person. Only last year, despite her health issues, Dr Carvalho had kindly accepted to support IPOPI and be part of our upcoming congress’ organising committee.

We will not only remember her as a unique and great specialist in our field but also as a very good friend of the PID patients’ community.

Our thoughts are with her family, friends, colleagues and the PID patients.
