New Podcast Episode Released: SID – The Hidden Diagnosis

IPOPI’s podcast Immunity Pulse, dedicated to amplifying patient stories and exploring the challenges faced by people living with immune-related conditions, has released a powerful new episode: “SID: The Hidden Diagnosis.”

In this episode, IPOPI’s President, Martine Pergent, has a heartfelt and eye-opening conversation with Joshua Williams, whose long and severe diagnostic odyssey challenges the norm. Joshua shares his perspective on the emotional and practical toll of years spent searching for answers—a compelling, recent testimony that resonates with the often-overlooked reality of secondary immunodeficiencies (SIDs)—conditions that frequently remain hidden beneath the surface of other medical issues, much like primary immunodeficiencies.

Joining them is Prof Stephen Jolles, who brings a medical viewpoint to the discussion, exploring why SIDs are so often missed, how healthcare systems can better recognise them, and what can be done to prevent patients from going undiagnosed for years.

This episode highlights both the human cost of delayed recognition and the urgent need to improve pathways to diagnosis and care. Listen to Joshua’s testimony here.
