Plasma for Life: IDFA Launches National Plasma Awareness Campaign

Empowering communities, celebrating donors, and transforming lives through plasma donation

In 2025, the Immune Deficiencies Foundation Australia (IDFA) will launch Plasma for Life—a powerful national campaign designed to spotlight the life-saving role of plasma and plasma-derived therapies. Running from May to December, this multi-stage campaign aims to educate, connect, and inspire. With the support of Lifeblood Australia, the initiative will reach thousands of Australians impacted by rare and chronic immune conditions and encourage new and existing donors to help meet the growing demand for plasma.

The campaign is structured around a three-stage approach.

Stage 1: Educate and Empower (May–June) focuses on providing IDFA members with accurate, accessible information about plasma donation and its life-saving impact. Members will be equipped to become informed advocates within their communities.

Stage 2: Create Communities (July–August) builds connections through storytelling and shared experiences, uniting patients, carers, and donors in a supportive space. During this time, IDFA members will have the opportunity to create ‘recipient teams’ to mobilise their community.

Stage 3: Raise Awareness (August–December) expands the message nationally with coordinated events, social media outreach, and media features, culminating in activities during International Plasma Awareness Week and throughout the rest of the year. This will be in the form of Plasma Parties and meet-and-greet events across the country.

By working together with Lifeblood Australia, IDFA hopes to elevate the voices of those who rely on plasma-derived therapies while honouring the incredible generosity of donors. Plasma for Life is not just a campaign—it’s a movement to save lives, one donation at a time.
