“Compromised: Life Without Immunity” is now available on YouTube
Released in 2024 by the Immune Deficiency Foundation, “Compromised: Life Without Immunity” is a documentary that offers a deeply personal look at the lives of those living with primary immunodeficiencies (PI). Through the stories of patients — from children to adults — and their families, the film portrays the daily realities of managing these rare and serious conditions with honesty and dignity. Medical experts contribute important context throughout, speaking to the broader challenges of diagnosis, treatment, and awareness. It is a film that is both moving and illuminating, and one that speaks directly to the heart of what our community works toward every day.
To mark Rare Disease Day on February 28, the Immune Deficiency Foundation made the documentary freely available to audiences worldwide via the Immune Deficiency Foundation’s YouTube channel. A companion podcast was also released in February, giving listeners a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the film. We warmly encourage members of our international network — whether patients, caregivers, clinicians, or advocates — to take the opportunity to watch and share it. Greater awareness of primary immunodeficiencies depends on stories like these reaching as wide an audience as possible, and this film is a valuable resource in that effort.
