Hospital Necker’s La Suite programme gets Prix Galien

Hospital Necker’s programme La Suite Necker, designed to help paediatric patients with rare or chronic diseases as they transition to adult care, was awarded the 2019 Prix Galien in the category “Patient follow up care”, on December 16, in Paris. IPOPI’s Medical Advisory Panel Chairman, Dr Nizar Mahlaoui, is behind the creation of this transition programme.
La Suite Necker was designed to ensure teenagers and young adults are accompanied and taught to become more autonomous as they transition towards the adult care units.

The Prix Galien Award was started in France in the 1970’s to celebrate innovation in the fields of healthcare, research, pharmaceutical products and medical devices. The Galien Award has been described as the industry’s equivalent of the Nobel prize and the highest accolade for pharmaceutical research and development.

IPOPI wishes to convey its congratulations to Dr Mahlaoui and Necker Hospital for this important recognition which further highlights the importance of putting into place efficient PID transition care programmes.
