IPOPI Advocated for Patient-Centred Research at the EU Health Summit
IPOPI took part in the EU Health Summit in Brussels, where key stakeholders convened to discuss the future of healthcare in Europe. The event brought together policymakers, patient organisations, researchers, and industry representatives to explore solutions for ensuring sustainable, innovative, and patient-focused healthcare systems.
With increasing challenges in healthcare, IPOPI emphasised the need to keep rare diseases high on the EU health agenda. Ensuring timely diagnosis, access to innovative treatments, and comprehensive care for primary immunodeficiency (PID) patients remains a top priority.
Strengthening Patient-Centred Research and Innovation
During the summit, Johan Prevot, IPOPI’s Executive Director, highlighted the importance of stronger collaborations between patient organisations, researchers, and policymakers. He stressed that integrating the patient perspective into research and healthcare policies is essential for driving meaningful innovation.
As discussions unfolded, IPOPI reinforced the need for:
- Sustainable funding for rare disease research
- Improved access to innovative therapies
- Stronger EU collaboration to address healthcare disparities
By working together, stakeholders can help build a resilient, patient-centred healthcare system that meets current and future challenges. IPOPI remains committed to advocating for policies that prioritise patients’ needs and long-term healthcare sustainability.
