News from the European Medicines Agency

IPOPI has been confirmed by the European Medicines Agency as a member of the Patients’ and Consumers’ Working Party (PCWP) for the next three years (2022-2025). The working party was established in 2006 and, since then, IPOPI has been a member. Jose Drabwell (IPOPI Board member and past IPOPI President) represents IPOPI as a full member and Leire Solis (IPOPI Health Policy and Advocacy Senior Manager) is her alternate.

Jose Drabwell participated in the joint meeting of patients, consumers and healthcare professionals virtually organised by the EMA (the PCWP / HCPWP joint meeting) on 1 and 2 June 2022. This was the first meeting of the new mandate of the PCWP and discussed many important topics, such as:

  • Update on the activities developed by the EMA on COVID-19. More information here.
  • Update on big data usage, how an EMA steering group on the topic is planning its activities and how they plan to involve patients in the process. More information here.
  • Use of data in clinical trials: to test how to incorporate raw data from clinical trials in the regulatory assessment, there is a pilot project on-going on raw data. More information here.

The full overview of the meeting, including the agenda and the presentations, is available here.
