IPOPI’s first meeting in Egypt to strengthen PID advocacy
IPOPI recently held its first-ever meeting in Egypt, marking a significant step towards improving primary immunodeficiency (PID) awareness and care in the country. The meeting, held back-to-back with a visit to the Grifols plasma collection facilities, was organised in collaboration with Nada, IPOPI’s National Member Organisation (NMO) in Egypt. IPOPI was delighted to be able to meet with Nada’s representatives, as well as patients, family members and local PID experts in Cairo to discuss key priorities for the local PID community.
During the very insightful tour of Grifols Egypt’s plasma collection facilities, IPOPI had the opportunity to witness first-hand the power of public-private partnerships in the development of plasma-derived therapies. Access to plasma-derived medicinal products is essential for many PID patients, and strengthening collaborations between the public and private sectors in this field is crucial to improving treatment availability.
IPOPI extends a special thank you to Dr Nesrine Radwan and Dr Sohilla Lotfy for their dedication to the Egyptian PID community and their ongoing efforts to enhance patient care.
Moving forward, IPOPI is committed to working alongside Nada to:
- Raise awareness of primary immunodeficiencies (PIDs) among healthcare professionals and the public
- Advocate for improved access to early diagnosis and lifesaving treatments
This milestone meeting reflects IPOPI’s dedication to supporting patient communities worldwide and fostering strong collaborations that drive meaningful change.
We are grateful for the support of Grifols in making this initiative possible and also thank our colleagues from the World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH) for the convivial joint meetings and logistical support on-site.
IPOPI, together with its stakeholders, will continue to work towards better care and stronger advocacy for PID patients in Egypt and beyond.
