Dsai’s visit to the German capital, Berlin is all about plasma awareness

Dsai – German patient organisation for primary immunodeficiencies

Roundtable “Improving Plasma Supply” and Plasma-Podcast in Berlin

Andrea Maier-Neuner (Managing Director) and Sabine Aschekowsky (Public Relations) from dsai, the German patient organisation for primary immunodeficiencies, were invited to join other important representatives for an intensive exchange on the hot topic of “Improving plasma supply”. Plasma-based medicines are increasingly being used for more and more indications. Further complex framework conditions, including at the EU level, are by no means easing the situation. The parliamentary evening was intended to determine the current situation of the plasma market and to present it to the political representatives. The presentations and discussions with the participants from politics, the Paul-Ehrlich-Institut (PEI), the Plasma Protein Therapeutics Association (PPTA), Alpha1 Deutschland e.V. and the Federal Ministry of Health were extremely constructive.

On the second day in Berlin, dsai had the opportunity to visit one of the plasma donation centres. Following discussions with plasma donors and a tour of the plasma donation centre, a podcast on primary immunodeficiencies was recorded. In the podcast, dsai answered important questions, such as: Why do plasma donations save lives… Why is plasma awareness work so important… Why are patients with congenital immunodeficiency so grateful to plasma donors… Finally, there were also touching words from a mother of two children, who herself – like her sons – is affected by a primary immunodeficiency.
