Canada – CIPO’s first Virtual Conference

On September 10-11 CIPO held our first virtual conference. With 26 speakers during 11 sessions over two days, the agenda was planned by a special conference committee with input from CIPO’s Medical Science Advisory Committee. Sessions included topics relevant to the PI community, including Plasma and Immunoglobulin Supply (thank you to IPOPI’s Johan Prevot for joining the panel!).

We also made several interactive features available, including a photo caption competition, ice breakers, Q&As, discussion portals, virtual networking, regional committee roundtables, patient story videos, and prize giveaways! Over 125 members joined the sessions live over the two days.

We also awarded our first-ever CIPO awards. The Higher Education Scholarships (3 x $1000) to three students entering higher education who have been impacted by primary immunodeficiency. The CIPO Immunology Resident Research Grant ($10,000) was awarded to Dr. Kevin Lee for a research project in primary immunology.

We are very excited for our in-person national conference in Ottawa in April!
