PID Cafés: A New Initiative for the PID Community in Belgium
The first pilot PID-Café, an innovative meeting place for patients with Primary Immunodeficiency (PID), opened its doors on November 29 at La Clinique Notre-Dame de Grâce (CNDG) in Gosselies. The event brought together patients, medical experts and community members to foster connections, share experiences, and provide valuable insights into life with PID.
Dr Gilliaux delivered an engaging lecture, followed by an in-depth presentation on the mission and activities of BePOPI vzw, Belgium’s leading PID advocacy organisation. Attendees were given ample time for a Q&A session and opportunities to network, exchange tips and tricks for managing their condition and discuss the latest scientific research.
This successful pilot event paves the way for quarterly PID-Cafés in 2025, with planned sessions in Mechelen, Liège and Brussels. The initiative aims to facilitate open discussions on the daily challenges of living with PID, provide updates on treatments, and highlight the role of BePOPI vzw in strengthening the PID community.
