International Plasma Awareness Week, October 3-7, 2022

Every year in October, the primary immunodeficiency (PID) community comes together to shed light on the need for plasma collection during International Plasma Awareness Week (IPAW, October 3-7, 2022).

This campaign, organised by PPTA (Plasma Protein Therapeutics Association), aims to:

  • Raise global awareness about source plasma collection.
  • Recognise the contributions of plasma donors to saving and improving lives.
  • Increase the understanding of lifesaving plasma protein therapies and rare diseases.

For patients with primary immunodeficiency, who depend on immunoglobulin replacement therapy derived from human plasma, these focus areas are essential. IPOPI actively participates in this campaign and advocates for the need for increased, and more regionally balanced, plasma collection.

Recognising the importance of patient community action, IPOPI also calls for its National Member Organisations (NMOs) to join IPAW 2022. IPOPI NMOs are invited and supported to grow their knowledge, raise awareness and speak up about the importance of plasma collection in their countries.
