Argentina – Medical education on WPIW

Argentina kick started World Primary Immunodeficiencies Week on April 22th with a “Medical Symposium on Pulmonary, Gastrointestinal and Autoimmune Complications in Adult Patients with Antibody Deficiency”, at the Argentinian Medical Association. The event took place in the morning and had around 50 participants amongst doctors, students and nurses.

Dr Liliana Castro Zorrilla, Adult Immunologist who organised the medical programme also invited Dr Claudia Milano, Adult Gastroentologist, Dr Julia Roteta Rocamora, Adult Immunologist and Dr Diana Troncoso, Biochemistry. AAPIP distributed educational booklets to the audience and Grifols kindly sponsored the coffee break of the meeting.

On Saturday 25th, at La Plata Sport Club, another event took place organized by Sor Ludovica Pediatrician Hospital from La Plata, Ricardo Gutierrez Pediatrician Hospital and Jeffrey Modell Foundation. AAPIP was invited to join together with patients from the city to participate in several games and activities.

Our last event took place on Monday April 27th at Pedro Elizalde Pediatrician Hospital

with another Medical Simposyum on “Primary Immunodeficiencies and its Clinical Expressions in the Digestive Tract

The speakers were Dr Claudio Cantisano Pediatrician Immunologist, Dr Hector Diaz, Pediatrician Immunologist, Dr Horacio Sommaruga Pediatrician Gastroenterologist and Dr Nestor Litwin, Biochemistry specialist in Gastroenterology who spoke about Ulcerative Colitis and Chron Disease.

The meeting also took place in the morning and welcomed 60 physicians who received our educational materials.
