IPOPI and AIP will hold a meeting at the Italian Senate on

The event will be well attended by policy makers with the support of two Italian Senators, Senator Bianconi and Senator Taverna, who will be co-chairing this meeting. The Director General for Prevention, Dr Serena Battilomo, will be representing the Italian Ministry of Health at this event that will also have representatives from the Italian Society for Paediatrics, the screening laboratory centres in many regions, as well as experts on SCID and other stakeholders.

Ms Maria Emilia Bonaccorso, from the news agency ANSA Salute, will be the event’s moderator and will ensure a lively event. Experts and stakeholders participating will have a chance of discussing with the speakers on how to ensure that efforts developed at regional level can be harnessed and contribute to the debate at federal level on the enlargement of the panel of diseases for which to screen newborns at birth.

on 29 September 2015. The campaign aims to place the topic of newborn screening for Severe Combined Immunodeficiencies (SCID) on the political agenda. This event is the highlight of an advocacy campaign initiated at the beginning of the year with the support of high-level experts related to SCID newborn screening, such as Prof Chiara Azzari, Prof Alessandro Plebani and Prof Maria-Cristina Pietrogrande (President of IPINET).
